Paper/Skewer Discussion

Our project was we had to use Canson paper and skewers. We had to use 12 pieces of paper and 12 skewers to create something that related to a type of music we were assigned to. My groups music was pachelbels Canon D. When deciding what to make we had to listen to the characteristics of the song and how the sheet music was written to make something. When interpreting music to art it is really hard to transfer over something that you hear to something you can see and touch and have them relate. For my piece I really felt the tone, pitch, and notes would be a piece of my art. Circle of life was my first major idea  and feeling I got. The song is played before ceremonies, weddings, graduations etc. And my interpretation was that its the circle of life with starting new chapters in people lives. You play it at graduation and you start a new chapter. Your getting married and you start a new chapter. Its like a rebirth but within the circle of life. When trying to interpret music to art you just have to represent the art as your feelings that the music can represent. I think thats the best way to go about it. We had a group of 4 and when trying to compile all our projects to create one piece it was very difficult. Its hard to decide what can work from all our projects that could be coherent into one project. I think the biggest difficulty was trying to agree on what we should do and why that would work with how every one else interpreted the music. For this to work I think we all had to point out the strengths and weaknesses. We then we could from their to decide what feelings we all felt were important and then start to decide what can we build from there.
